The link above is a wonderful article that helps answer the question that I am sure many of us ask: how do I become a friend of God?
I know because I asked myself that very question this morning. God desires intimacy with His Children. That is why I sincerely hope you spend the time to read the article above.
Back in 2013, after my first “foreign” mission trip to the Dominican Republic, I was given an impression from God about a “revival” that will take place “around the world” in the coming years. I remember exactly where I was, what I was reading, and who I was with when I received this word. The LORD has an amazing way of making us remember exactly what we need to in order to fulfill HIS PURPOSES!
The reason I put the word foreign “in quotes” in the previous paragraph was because I never felt more at home in my life than the two times I went to the Dominican Republic. My soul still longs for the intimacy that I experienced with the Lord while I was there serving Him. The amazing thing is — that intimacy never goes away, but it is very important that we never forget the checkpoints along the way where the Lord placed us in a season of preparation.
This may sound weird, but ever since those days I feel like my foreign mission is exactly where I am at any given moment – the U.S.A. The more I live in the United States, the less at home I feel. There is just something about being able to leave everything behind and simply serve Jesus! Also, our country is one that has lost sight of the Godly heritage of those who helped establish it. Even for those who seek God wholeheartedly understand that our country is falling away in a major way. That’s why I feel all the more assured and confirmed in the word he gave me about revival. It clearly states in scripture that before there is revival, there would be a falling away as well.
I remember where I was as a 7-year old in my church in Erie when I first felt called to foreign missions. At that age, I never would have imagined that the country I was born in was a part of that very specific foreign mission. Once again, the amazing thing about Jesus is that He can reignite that intimacy wherever we are in life! Wherever you go is a place where the LORD can use you to spread HIS LOVE & advance the Gospel! For me, I joke that my foreign mission right now is in the Amazon — a.k.a. Amazon.com, LLC. Corporate America is somewhere that needs God just as much as anywhere else! I have already seen that the fields are ripe for harvest and I am very thankful for the very meaningful conversations about Jesus and encouragement I have received from fellow believers!
I will leave you all with this. If there were ever a verse that I firmly believe embodies the life of a person living in the mission field, it would be Jeremiah 29:7, the dedication verse for this site. It was actually inspired by the wedding of two dear friends of mine because that very verse was one of their dedication verses as well. Thus, SEEK THE PROSPERITY of the PLACE YOU ARE CURRENTLY SITUATED. There is a reason why the LORD HAS CARRIED YOU to where you are at this very moment in your walk with Him. Seek ELOHIM each day, and He will carry you to a new level of intimacy. Don’t expect to go back to a place of intimacy you experienced in the past. Rather, focus on the new thing (Isaiah 43:19) He is trying to do this day!
May you never forget HIS UNFAILING CHARACTER – His Love for You, His Joy when His Children succeed, & the Gentleness that calms the raging sea when His Children ask for His HELP & He gives them PEACE!
