Matthew 5 is a great place to start (especially verses 13 through 16) when learning how to become a light, even when it feels so dark. But that is why it is so important for LIGHT (Jesus in and through us) to exist.
In the beginning, God created LIGHT & he saw that it WAS GOOD! He uses light to separate the other so-called “lights” in this world. Darkness does whatever it can to disguise itself as light, it’s called lying.
Our politicians are taught to lie for a number of reasons, but I desire TRUTH, in all things… because NOTHING is hidden from the TRUE LIGHT, which will come on the day of Judgment.
Now to the part where I defend my thesis against “common-sense” Christianity. Common sense says this about darkness, “Stay away, it’s unknown and dangerous.” What would a lion do? If it’s hungry, it needs to eat. Regardless of finding it in the day or the night, he will accomplish the goal of finding something to eat. Thus, if we thirst for the LIGHT, we must GO INTO THE DARKNESS to find others who also thirst and hunger for the LIGHT to truly appreciate the LIGHT so that others may also see the LIGHT. Your light is meant to be shared, not hidden.
Proverbs 11:30: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls.
Where are souls to be won? Among the lost. The lost are in darkness. Thus, as the Light of the World described by Jesus Christ, WE MUST NOT TREMBLE, FEAR, OR SHRINK from the darkness or death. It can be as simple as pulling a drunk man who has stumbled and fallen over in a crosswalk back onto the sidewalk to know that HE IS SAFE. It’s as simple as SAYING “HI!” to someone & loving your neighbors (no matter what the cost). “GOD’s reward is worth it all.” ~RJS. He will be the one to yank you out of the darkness of your sinful nature & the enemy’s desire to destroy you. But IT (your destruction) WILL NOT PASS if you place your trust in JESUS!
