Why The World Is So Broken

There are so many scriptures from the very beginning to now that explain the question: “Why is the world we live in so broken?”

The Fall into our sinful nature in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) is obviously the start. Additionally, there are so many examples from the Holy Bible that provide an extensive account of the resulting symptoms from the past. However, these examples provide us with a blueprint on how we are to deal with the ways we see it manifesting today (and will continue to see in the future).

Additionally, when you recognize that you are in the world but not of this world because of the salvation we now claim in Jesus Christ, freedom in His name is gifted to your life and circumstances. It is not a freedom to continue in sin. But instead is a freedom to live your calling to spread the Gospel and bear the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit in your life (Galatians 5 & 1 Corinthians 12).

There are five things (or declarations) that I would admonish all believers to declare over their lives in order to overcome their sinful nature, live the abundant Holy Spirit-filled life God calls us to, and minister to others so they can experience the same freedom.

(1) “I am saved because of Jesus Christ and the power of His Holy Spirit within me!” (Romans 10:9-10, John 14:26)

(2) “I no longer live in my sinful nature. I am forgiven and cleansed of my sin by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ!” (1 John 1:9)

(3) “I am made alive and righteous by the power of the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel to a fallen world!” (Romans 8)

(4) “In Christ, I am a new creation. My old person is gone and I am a new person by the Holy Spirit’s power!” (Galatians 2:20)

(5) “Jesus Christ is coming back and I will spread the Gospel so others come with me!” (Revelation 22:12)

I pray these declarations over your life. I hope that they impacted you and that they are truly from the Spirit of the Living God.

To close, I want to leave you with my closing argument as we appeal to this broken world:

This life in the body and this fallen kingdom on earth is not our permanent residence. One of the things we can look forward to, if we have faith in Jesus Christ, is our true citizenship: heaven. Therefore, use the brokenness of this world to point the lost to the future wholeness and perfection of the world to come: the New Heaven and Earth. But the only way that is possible and for them to experience it for eternity is through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray that the He himself will send power from on high to turn the hearts and minds of the lost toward Him. I also pray that we take up our mantle as witnesses to the end of the earth. Like workers in the field, let’s be ready for the harvest!

God bless you all, and I pray the these words seen above are not of my own accord, but truly inspired by the Holy Spirit.
