Now that we have covered (to an extent) what Jesus has already fulfilled in terms of Bible prophecy and the words of prophecy He himself spoke, we will wrap up this series about the Prophecies concerning Jesus Christ in a two-fold fashion. First, I will briefly touch upon the prophesied gifting of the Holy Spirit. Then, I will finish with the prophecies concerning Jesus Christ and the exciting scriptures that point to what He will fulfill in what is likely to be the not-so-distant future (at the end of the age).
[1] The Promise of the Holy Spirit
“For I will pour water on the thirsty land,
and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,
and my blessing on your descendants” (Isaiah 44:3)
“And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.” (Joel 2:28-29)
“But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you” (John 16:7)
Commentary
- Acts 2 is just the beginning of all the things that were prophesied regarding the Holy Spirit. As you read throughout the Book of Acts, the Holy Spirit does miraculous things and provides many convincing proofs that the promised gift of the Holy Spirit has finally arrived in full for the Last Days. Now, many people today believe that all the things that happened in the Book of Acts are things that no longer happen by the Holy Spirit today. This is not true. The Power of the Holy Spirit moving through God’s people today is powerful just like in the days of the early church. I would encourage you to not deny the Lord Jesus Christ’s power in your life by limiting what you believe the Holy Spirit can do for you. Even though the above words of prophecy were fulfilled in the time of the Holy Spirit’s arrival to the early church, God can still cause his people to prophesy, dream dreams, have visions, and have manifestations of the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. Read his Word and put it into practice. Jesus is waiting for you to dive deeper and not doubt but have faith in what the Bible says the Holy Spirit can do in your life!
[2] The Imminent Return of Jesus Christ
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36)
The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast (Revelation 19:11-21)
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.
Commentary
- Revelation 19 is one of my favorite passages of scripture. It is a word picture of our hope in Jesus Christ: that His Return is the most exciting thing that we as Christians look forward to! His return to destroy the wicked and bring about the final redemption of the elect. There are differing opinions on what exactly this passage will look like in reality. However, the key point is that Jesus Christ will return to make things right and usher in His Perfect Kingdom.
- Therefore, do not fear the enemy, for God has made your enemies a footstool and Satan is underneath your feet. What does that mean? With Jesus Christ in your heart and the Holy Spirit living within you, the schemes of the enemy will never prevail against you. Rejoice and learn what it means to live out that truth.
Wow, praise God for His work through me. I thank Him for allowing me to write about the Truths of His Word and hopefully revelation by the Holy Spirit that comes from reading and applying His Word to your life.
I hope you enjoyed the series. I pray that it helped you build a foundation as to why the Old Testament is so important to our Christian faith today and why Jesus Christ’s fulfillment of scripture is a key proof for non-believers as to why we believe and why they should believe.
With that, I wish you all a wonderful and restful night! God bless 🙂
