God Is Good, All The Time

This is a story that I have told to my family and some friends from church, but I wanted to share it on here as well. It is a story of being faithful to what God has put on your heart and the rewards that come with it.

So on December 15th, 2019, I headed to the Pittsburgh International Airport. I was on my way to meet my parents on a week and a half long vacation in Key West, Florida! I had never been, so I was very excited because I heard it was like being in the Caribbean and I didn’t even need my passport.

During my flight to Charlotte, God put it on my heart to share Jesus with one of the flight attendants. It was one of those times where the Lord hit my heart with compassion for this man and I really didn’t know why. However, my instructions were clear, “Share the gospel with this man.”

The flight lands and we begin the deplaning process. I was sitting around the middle of the plane and I noticed this man was in the very back with all the passengers filing toward the front. There was a brief moment of doubt that crept in my mind and I was tempted to just leave the plane and not obey what the Lord had shown me. However, I decided to make the extra effort and wait until everyone else was off the plan to speak with the man. While I waited one of the other flight attendants asked if I was okay and needed any help, and I said no, I am fine. She definitely thought I was up to something.

Once everyone was off the plane, I went to the back to talk to him, not knowing what I was even supposed to say, but I said, “Are you a believer?” And he said, “You know, about average.” So during the flight, I was reading the book “Financial Overflow” by Jonathan Shuttlesworth (highly recommend) and I also happened to have a mailer he sent out to me that I was using as a bookmark. So I gave him the mailer and said, “Well, I listen to this guy, his ministry is called Revival Today. If you download his app and listen to his radio station, I promise you, it will change your life.” He said, “Thank you,” and I left.

Now I go to find my connecting flight from Charlotte to Key West. As I am sitting there, they announce that our flight is overbooked and that someone will need to take a detour to Miami and then to Key West, which would change the arrival time from about 4:00 pm to about 11:00 pm. Initially, the voucher offer was $750. So I waited and probably 5 minutes later it was increased to $1,000. When I heard the amount and how quickly it was raised, I had to check it out. So I walk up to the counter and the guy was very nice. He told me to stand by and he would let me know. While sitting there I was able to clear it with my parents but I asked God, “Is this the right way to go?” And God said, “You will have your answer very soon.” Within a couple minutes, I was called back up to counter and I was approved for the voucher. The man who set me up with the $1,000 American Airlines voucher was also a Christian and was very appreciative of making his job a lot easier. When people don’t volunteer, they have to pick someone at random.

After that, I went to my connecting flight for Miami in the Charlotte. After I sat down, I overheard a lady in conversation say, “God is good!” And I said, “All the time.” Immediately, I began talking with this lady. She happened to be a motivational speaker who was a Christian and we had a great conversation about spiritual gifts and how I was really trying to tap into my prophetic gift which I know the Lord gave me for such a time as this. She was headed to San Juan, Puerto Rico. I was very grateful for the interaction and she was also one of the people to whom I proclaimed 2020 was going to be a big year.

After I got on my flight to Miami and then arrived, I got to watch the Steelers vs. Bills Sunday Night Football game with some people who were also headed to Key West that I ended up starting a conversation with. I brought up the Gospel a few times but they didn’t seem very interested in talking about it. Although the Steelers lost, I still felt an overwhelming sense of peace and fulfillment about my entire traveling adventure. I arrived in Key West around 11:00 pm and my parents picked me up and I proceeded to have one of the best vacations of my life. My favorite part was having time alone with the Lord and falling asleep to the sound of the wind gently passing through the palm trees.

There are three takeaways I want you to remember from this story.

  1. Obey God at all costs: For me, it required going out of my way and getting out of my comfort zone. However, God always rewards our obedience. For me, it was a $1,000 American Airlines voucher that will fund my airline travel for the next couple years.
  2. Share the Gospel with anyone who will listen: I may never see the full fruit of the conversations about Jesus that I had with people on my travel adventure. However, we will receive our reward in heaven. Who knows, that guy could have been thinking about walking about from the Lord and his family, but sharing my heart with him could have totally changed the trajectory of his life. Every little thing in life matters and God cares about every little detail and will use it.
  3. God is good, all the time: If you didn’t know that already, I hope you will declare that over your life. As Christians, we need to bring an attitude of thanksgiving into everything that we do. Now, not everything we go through is going to naturally bring us to that kind of attitude, but we must praise God for the answer to our problems and He will bring the solutions to pass.

I hope this post blessed you. If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I would love to give you and opportunity to do that right now. If you are ready to commit your life to the Lord, pray this prayer out of a repentant heart:

Heavenly Father, I thank you that you sent your son Jesus to die on the cross for me. I believe in my heart, your raise Him from the dead and I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is my Lord, my Savior, and my King who is coming back soon for me. Lord Jesus, fill me with your power and baptize me in your Holy Spirit. Give me the strength to live each day for you and to NEVER TURN BACK to a life of sin. In JESUS NAME, amen.

If you just prayed that prayer, you are as saved as I am. Please let me know that you responded to this call to salvation by clicking on the Contact section and reaching out to me. I would love to send you some information on how to get connected with a good church and grow in your walk with the Lord.

God bless!
